Sandpoint, ID – September 5, 2025
War Memorial Field witnessed one of the most thrilling games in recent history Friday night, as the Sandpoint Bulldogs battled past 6A power Post Falls for a 34–31 victory. Junior kicker Brock Yarbrough hit a clutch 25-yard field goal with 25 seconds left, and sophomore Jack Schriber sealed the win with his first career interception on the Trojans’ final play.
Game Flow
First Quarter Punch: Sandpoint roared to a 17–0 lead with a Yarbrough field goal, a 62-yard bomb to Maverick Gomez, and a 1-yard plunge by Jensen Sheetz.
Trojan Response: Post Falls answered with 24 second-quarter points to tie the game at 24 at halftime.
Trading Scores: Sheetz’s second rushing TD gave Sandpoint a 31–24 edge in the third, but the Trojans tied it again in the 4th.
Clutch Finish: On 3rd-and-15, Yarbrough made a one-handed grab and fought for 16 yards to keep the drive alive. He then drilled the game-winner from 25 yards out. Schriber ended it with a timely interception, sending the Bulldog sideline into celebration.
Defensive Heroes
While the offense made highlight plays, it was the Bulldog defense that stood tall when it mattered most:
Jack Schriber (So., DB) – The biggest moment of his young career: an interception with one second left to stall Post Falls’ comeback attempt. He also added a 17-yard kickoff return, showing his growing role on special teams.
Devin McEneney (Jr., LB) – Grabbed his first career interception in the 1st quarter, halting a Trojan drive deep in Sandpoint territory and flipping momentum back to the Dawgs.
Roman Turnbull (Sr., LB) – Posted 7 tackles (2 solo, 5 assists) with a key stop behind the line. His sideline-to-sideline presence anchored the middle of the defense.
Daniel Porter (Sr., DL) – Recorded 13 total tackles (4 solo, 9 assists) and a TFL, consistently plugging running lanes and making Post Falls grind out yards.
Lucas Garrison (Sr., S) – Added 11 total tackles (6 solo) and erased big plays in the secondary. His leadership kept the defense composed when Post Falls’ tempo heated up.
Brock Yarbrough (Jr., DB/WR/K) – Along with his offensive and special teams heroics, Yarbrough added 11 tackles and a TFL on defense, proving he’s truly a three-phase weapon.
This group allowed 455 yards, but forced 3 turnovers (2 INTs, 1 fumble) and stopped Post Falls on key 4th-down attemptsPostFalls_GameStats. They may have bent, but they refused to break.
Standout Offense
QB Braden Buckhout – 217 passing yards, 2 TDs, plus 121 rushing yards on 15 carries.
WR Maverick Gomez – 6 catches, 156 yards, 2 TDs, now up to 423 yards and 5 TDs in 3 games.
RB Jensen Sheetz – 23 carries, 105 yards, 2 TDs, giving him 6 rushing touchdowns this season.
WR/PK Brock Yarbrough – 2-for-2 on FGs (26, 25 yards), 4-for-4 PATs, 3 catches for 55 yards, 11 tackles, and the game’s clutchest play on both sides of the ball.

Sandpoint at the Top of the IEL
Strength of Schedule: Wins over Twin Falls, Teton, and 6A Post Falls — all playoff-caliber programs.
Balanced Attack: Averaging 243 passing and 206 rushing yards per game.
Star Trio: Buckhout, Gomez, and Sheetz all rank among the state’s best.
Defensive Playmakers: 4 interceptions in 3 games and multiple defenders making double-digit tackles.
Resiliency: Sandpoint has come from behind, held tough in shootouts, and closed out late-game ties with clutch defense and special teams.
Lakeland is a strong squad, but Sandpoint has proven itself against tougher competition. The Bulldogs’ ability to win in multiple ways — and to finish games — sets them apart in the IEL right now.
Looking Ahead
At 3–0, the Bulldogs now travel to Yakima, WA, to face A.C. Davis High this Friday. Davis (1–0) brings speed and athleticism, but Sandpoint’s composure and depth on both sides of the ball give them confidence heading into another tough road test.
Final: Sandpoint 34, Post Falls 31
A game-winning kick, a game-sealing interception, and a defense that delivered in the clutch — the Bulldogs showed once again why they’re the team to beat in the IEL.
